I have been working for five years as an AP/AR Specialist at PEGUS Research, an Rx-to-OTC transition research company, but am now looking for an opportunity for a new work adventure, preferably in external bookkeeping for small businesses.
At PEGUS Research, my primary responsibilities are tracking milestone completion, expenses and invoicing for different studies, which requires regular communication with project managers and clients to handle any accounting-related questions. I work extensively in Excel and Quickbooks (both Quickbooks Desktop and Quickbooks Online), and have some experience with bill.com. I also work with our accountant on month-end close procedures.
My coursework at Salt Lake Community College and Southern Utah University included payroll calculation; financial, managerial, cost and governmental accounting; individual income tax preparation (including Schedules C and SE); auditing; accounting information systems; and Utah business law.
I have considerable experience managing the expectations associated with working remotely, both as a student and as an employee. My work at PEGUS Research has been remote for the full four years of my tenure, with regular departmental meetings via Microsoft Teams and communication via Teams and email. In addition to completing 25 online classes across four universities, I taught an introduction to web design class at the University of Utah that required significant online work, including posting and grading assignments and communication with students.
In addition to my accounting degree, I obtained a bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah in December 2010, majoring in Mass Communication and minoring in both Mathematics and Economics, and have been able to use the theoretical and practical skills learned there in my accounting work.
